Perfectionism

\r\n \r\n Perfectionsts tend to be capable people but they often impose upon themselves and often upon others very high standards .Perfectionists are unable to set up priorities because,in their mind everything is important and must be done with exact precision .This leads to difficulty in reaching high aims cause of the corresponding feeling of frustration and failure . Incapacitating perfectionism is a barrier to attainment of goals while adaptive perfectionism is way better because the person uses this natural tendency to do things thoroughly ,and to advance personally or professionally .To overcome the latter , eliminate fear of failure, rejection or dissaproval-believing one needs continual acceptance by and approval by others is one of the most dangerous and irrational thoughts.secondly one should eliminate the \'all or nothing idea\'-being close to the maximum goals is an important achievement and does not costitute failure \r\n\r\nIts therefore essential that the person realise that although perfectionism can lead to achievements ,it often prevents action.Once you identify the problem as a perfectionist ,fight self destructive thoughts and substitute them with adaptive ideas\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n
